Open-source Database Popularity Soars

The use of open-source database continues to rise. Evans Data, a research company, reported that use of open-source database MySQL rose 30% over the last year. By comparison, usage of Microsoft's databases (SQL Server and Access) grew by only 6% over the past year. Despite MySQL's rising popularity most databases are run with software from Microsoft, Oracle, Filemaker and others.
