Common Gateway Interface (CGI)

CGI stands for Common Gateway Interface. A CGI program is used to output dynamic information from a web server onto the Internet. It is not a static document like an HTML file. Without CGI the Internet would not be nearly as interesting. For example, CGI programs are used to process the forms found on webpages. A CGI program can be written in a number of executable languages include Perl, Unix shell and C++.
