His website offers daily inspirational messages from Richard, fitness tips, recipes, and exercise routines. Find advice here from both Richard and from other readers willing to share what worked for them. A likeable site that follows Richard Simmons' friendly and inspirational approach to health and fitness. Fitness Online http://www.fitnessonline.com/ Fitness Online has a wealth of information for those looking to get in shape or to stay that way. Fitness Online showcases the best of the articles from top fitness magazines such as Shape (featuring a full length interview with Oprah Winfrey), Men's Fitness, Muscle and Fitness, Flex, Living Fit, Fit Pregnancy and Shape Cooks. Also includes a searchable workout database, fitness news and articles and the USDA Nutribase online nutrition calculator. A mega resource for the fitness inclined. Gold's Gym Online http://www.goldsgym.com/ The Gold's Gym site is more than just an ad for its services; this great looking site offers Gold's Nuggets: free weekly nutrition, cooking, training and health tips, as well as personal trainer video clips. Online members have access to the database of archived past Gold's Nuggets, as well. (At this writing, the online member service is being revamped but should return soon.) Great low-fat recipes. Health A to Z http://www.healthatoz.com Health A to Z is a health and fitness search engine which can help you navigate the maze of health and fitness sites on the Web which cover everything from Drug Abuse to Veterinary Medicine. Some site reviews. Commercial sites are included. Also provides health news which is updated every two weeks. Health Explorer http://www.healthexplorer.com/ Health Explorer is designed to help you navigate the oceans of health information on the Internet. It provides a searchable database of links to over 3000 health-related websites with site descriptions as well as site reviews. An excellent starting point if you are seeking health-related information on subjects ranging from aging to women's health. Healthy Ideas http://www.healthyideas.com/ Healthy Ideas is an excellent resource for those seeking the latest health & nutrition news, low-fat recipes, tips on maintaining weight and parenting advice. The site also contains active forums where readers discuss their own thoughts on health issues. If you are interested in healthy recipes, there are over 300 hundred to choose from including appetizers, meats, fish, desserts and more. If you are making your own recipes, consider using the foodscanner which provides details on fat grams, calories and cautions and advantages for each of the hundreds of different foods listed. A treasure for the health conscientious individual. Mayo Health Clinic http://www.mayohealth.org/ The Mayo Health Clinic's website is definitely one to bookmark. With articles on medical topics ranging from hearing loss to the latest diet drugs, full color diagrams, interactive features such as a BMI (Body Mass Index) calculator, and the latest news on drug releases and health The Mayo Clinic's site is one you'll want to visit many times. MedicineNet http://www.medicinenet.com/ MedicineNet is a medical information reference site compiled by U.S. Board Certified Physicians. The articles cover general health topics, are written in laymen's terms and provide a broad overview of a number of different diseases and common health conditions. MedicineNet offers a wealth of information about diseases, treatments, pharmaceuticals, and includes an Ask the Expert section, a Medical Dictionary, and Hot News. Soon to come: medical news updates by email. Men's Health http://www.menshealth.com/ Men's Health provides all sorts of health information with a focus on men's medical and health issues. Highlights include answers to health questions you were afraid to ask, sex-related topics, food and a resource guide to health-related organizations. Don't miss the workout plans with explanations and animations which demonstrate the correct form for performing the exercises. ReutersHealth http://www.reutershealth.com/ A subsidiary of Reuters, Reuters Health offers up to the minute news concerning health for consumers and professionals alike. You can read top headlines for free. A subscription service is also offered. For $79 a year (beginning February 1, 1998), an annual subscription to www.reutershealth.com includes: Medical News, Health eLine, News Archive and access to the Clinical Pharmacology Drug Database and the National Library of Medicine's MEDLINE. Shape Up America! http://www.shapeup.org/sua/ Founded by former Surgeon General Dr. C. Everett Koop, Shape Up America's goal is to promote healthy weight and increased physical activity in America. The website includes The Cyberkitchen, where you can choose customized meal plans for your goals, the BMI Center where you can determine your BMI interactively, the Health & Fitness center where you can get an assessment of your fitness level and find out about different types of physical activity and the Media Center where you can read the latest news on the health and fitness front. A practical site with tips and easy to follow instructions for getting back into shape safely. Weightloss2000.com http://weightloss2000.com/ Weightloss2000.com is a well-designed site that provides information about weight loss and being overweight. The site features information on weight loss therapies including drugs, herbs, spas, getaways, exercise and dieting -- including possible advantages and disadvantages of each. The site also includes related news stories, a community message board, links to online resources and how to calculate your BMI (Body Mass Index). Wellness Web http://wellweb.com/ Wellness Web offers information about clinical trials, community health, drug dosages and compliance, treatment options and research, how to select a health care provider, reports on dozens of illnesses and conditions, tips about healthy lifestyles, complementary treatment alternatives and options, and many other topics. Women's Health Interactive http://www.womens-health.com With interactive quizzes, articles, FAQs and an extensive links page with links to additional women's resources, Women's Health Interactive is a helpful and informative site full of women's health information. Also offers health assessment for women regarding such topics as pregnancy and cardiovascular health. |
