As the next millennium approaches, we will be faced with some pressing issues about our future including a potentially disruptive computer bug and some exciting new technologies, not to mention finding a great place to spend New Year's Eve 1999. The Last Day

This is the homepage for the bestselling novel, The Last Day by Glenn Kleier (Warner, 1998), a thought-provoking and controversial Millennium thriller that will be a miniseries on ABC in 1999. Condemned by some religious groups and praised by others (Mother Theresa herself read the galleys and liked it), this is the best so far of the Millennium thrillers to appear. A mysterious woman with strange powers, claiming to be the New Messiah, appears on New Years Eve, 1999, with a message from God to the world. Is she a fake? The real thing? An artificial lifeform? The website features information on the book, the upcoming series and feature news stories from events in the book are presented as if they are actually happening. A great read for thriller lovers -- and a cool website.

National Geographic's Millennium

The Millennium feature on National Geographic's graphically pleasing website includes coverage of how humans threaten biodiversity (the variety of life), world population growth (including a world population counter), global warming and other problems mankind will have to deal with now and in the near future. A different look at the year 2000 and at our future which is even more alarming than the worst-case scenarios about the Y2K computer problem.
