Most of the site is free, with access to current scores in all sports, latest news, links to all pro teams' Sportline webpages, fantasy sports, Superstar Athletes homepages, the Daily Line and interviews via real audio. Also has a free newsletter. You must be a member to access the archived stats, chat rooms, columns, Sports Career jobline, local coverage, contests and more. Currently running a 30 day free trial period. Membership is $4.95 per month or $39.95 for a year in advance. CNN/SI http://www.cnnsi.com/ News giant CNN and Sports Illustrated magazine have teamed up to produce this well-designed sports mega-site which features U.S. and world sports news and scores, NFL Matchups, Kids Sports Illustrated, Events, columns, U.S. TV sports listings, fantasy sports, articles and photos from the offline version of SI, message boards, team pages and, of course, an entire section devoted to SI's popular swimsuit edition -- with photos. Be sure to bookmark this one. FOX Sports http://www.foxsports.com/ This super sports site has a great new feature: your own personalized news page which will access information from your regional FOX network. In-depth same-day game analysis, extensive team notebooks for professional and college teams, special previews of key NBA, NHL and MLB matchups, as well as the upcoming week's telecast schedule are all offered free of charge. Also includes comprehensive material from FOX Sports Net national programming, such as Hardcore Football and FOX Sports News, which includes interactive opinion polls that integrate the site with the program's nightly broadcasts, focusing on the hottest news of the day. Highlights of FOX Sports News' signature segments, such as "Ones To Watch," and "Spotlight," are also featured. A clean, crisp look and comprehensive coverage make this site a must-stop on your sports tour. Major League Baseball MLB@Bat http://www.majorleaguebaseball.com/ The official site of Major League Baseball has news, American League pages, standings, league leaders, award winners, season schedules, league directory weekly highlights, history, records, players of the week, umpire rosters, minor leagues, women's and girls baseball and more. Don't miss the section on the Negro Leagues sponsored by the Negro Baseball Museum. A good look at the sport from the official viewpoint. NFL.com http://www.nfl.com/ The official website of the NFL, this site has it all for the football fan: news, photos, in-depth analysis and some fascinating new interactive features such as The Live Scoreboard which features up-to-the-minute updates from the entire schedule, the GameDay Live Applet, which provides in-depth game coverage within a real-time environment with detailed drive charts, play-by-play, in-progress individual and team statistics, and the Java Scoreboard which displays all available games for the current week. Individual team pages also include the applet which is continuously updated while games are in-progress. Whew! Ok, the game's over, time to log off, right? Wrong! Speed Net http://www.starnews.com/speednet/ The Indianapolis Star and The Indianapolis News created SpeedNet to be a free information service for auto racing fans. While providing complete coverage and interactive features related to IndyCar, Indy Racing League, NASCAR/Winston Cup, USAC, NHRA and Formula One auto racing, its primary focus is on the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race and the Brickyard 400 NASCAR race, which both are held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Sporting Life http://www.sporting-life.com/ Britain's The Sporting Life newspaper and the Press Association have teamed up to create the most up-to-the minute sports news and information for the U.K betting public, reporting on horseracing, soccer, cricket, darts, boxing, Formula 1, golf , American football -- you name it and Sporting Life will give you all the up to the minute info and background you need to make that informed bet. The horse racing information is first class with live news service of all races, complete racing cards with form for all horses, trainers and jockeys, racing results, betting and statistics. Offers a free subscription to its information-packed website which provides up-to-the-minute sports content including news, scores, statistics, feature stories, exclusive original content including Real Audio interviews with sports stars and the official Tony Gwynn website. With a sharp look, snappy graphics and in-depth reporting, SportsExtra! delivers the goods. The Sporting News http://www.sportingnews.com/ The in-depth articles sports fans love from the offline publication The Sporting News are online now along with useful services such as chat, an email newsletter, reader mail called Voice of the Fan and participation contests called the Fantasy Challenge. Interactivity, great content and opportunities to find out what other fans are thinking make this a stellar sports site. Total Sports http://www.totalsports.net/ With daily articles and timely scoreboards on a wide range of sports including football, motor sports, boxing and tennis, this site is worth a trip for sports fans. For example, looking for scores on the latest Big Ten College Basketball games? Just use the pull-down menu bar for college basketball, select Big Ten and the latest scores come right up on your screen. Gamers may be interested in trying the java-based simulations of baseball and football. XPC Sports http://www.xpcsports.com/ This is a unique sports site offering coverage of college and pro sports with a special section devoted to extreme sports. The extreme sports section includes sports like inline-skating, snowboarding and mountain biking. The site's highlights are its original articles, novel focus and large directory of links to homepages for college teams in numerous categories. Targeted at generation X'ers. |
