HotAuthors.com, a new website from Literary Charity, features yet-to-be-published works from well-known authors including Stephen E. Ambrose, Mary Higgins Clark, Jackie Collins, Stephen King, and David McCullough. Consumers make a donation of $1, $5 or $10 (via credit card), and read excerpts from the authors. All donations benefit Literacy Partners, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to helping adults learn to read. This fundraiser will run from December 15, 1999 until February 15, 2000.

Wemedia.com allows people with disabilities to interact, explore and communicate on an equal basis with each other and the rest of the world. The Web and other multimedia formats are suited for people with disabilities, who rely heavily on media and computer technology to find information, goods and services. Some features of the site include distance learning, jobs, sports, live events and chat.

Golf Illustrated Magazine has launched Golf Illustrated Online. Golf Illustrated Online combines golf information with Internet tools, including web searches, headline news, sports, weather, and stock tracking. Current magazine subscribers and online visitors can gain access to the magazine's archives, as well as other resources, such as a personalized start page, trial subscriptions, weekly email golf news updates, product reviews, Q&As, advice and promotional offers.

Mark Saldanha and Michael Burgess have launched Schoolbytes.com, a website aimed at high school and college students with one philosophy: make complex stuff easy, entertaining and free. Their most popular section to date is the irreverent plotbytes. They include standard literature guide elements, along with Schoolbytes elements such as a "Things to make you look smart" section.

FishingLife.com has launched a new online magazine with fishing stories and other content for fishing enthusiasts. The fishing stories are linked to additional resources and e-commerce sites. Plans for the ezine include linking to photos, video and audio clips. Stories will be archived at FishingLife.com and its fishing directory, FishSearch.com.

PogoPet members register their pets by providing information on age, breed and geographic location. PogoPet then provides information and advice throughout the life of the registered pet. Subject areas include feeding and nutrition, grooming, training and behavior, exercise and play, and health.
