Microsoft has announced that the new version of its Windows operating system, Windows 10, will be available on July 29. New features in Windows 10 include a personal digital assistant, called Cortana. It will also have a new browser, named Windows Edge, instead of Internet Explorer.

Microsoft says four million Windows Insiders have been testing Windows 10. The company says the new operating system is fast and has quick startup and resume features. It also says it is its most secure platform. It uses a product called Windows Defender for anti-malware protection.

There are also new apps on Windows 10 for photos, video, maps, mail, calendar and more. The Start button is back with Windows 10. Windows 10 uses tiles to let you see and access your most frequently used programs. For entertainment, Microsoft says it is bringing the Xbox to the PC through an Xbox app.

Microsoft says Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for users that have Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 in its first year. This is a great deal for those who are not ready to upgrade their computer but want the latest operating system. Microsoft told Neowin that Windows 10 Home will cost $119 and Windows 10 Pro will cost $199 for those who don't have Windows 7 or 8.1.
