Solar Powered Sand Printer Makes Glass Objects Out of Desert Sand

This solar-powered printer uses sand to make glass objects. The printer is part of the Solar Sinter Project by Markus Kayser. Sunlight and sand (both available in abundance in the desert) are used as raw energy and raw material to create glass objects using a 3D printing process. This video shows a successful test of the printer in the Sahara desert near Siwa, Egypt. Take a look:
