Hardware hacking is a new trend that involves people taking a piece of
hardware, like a toaster, and enhancing it at home with new technology.
For example, Scott Fullam redesigned his toaster to burn the words hot or
cool onto the bread. Other items people like to hack include TiVo and the
Xbox -- and just about any household appliance can be updated by adding a
digital camera or digital display. Books available on hardware hacking
are just starting to hit the bookstores.
