Character.ai Provides AI Characters to Chat With

Character.AI is a chatbot company using AI to develop AI chat characters for humans. Character Technologies, Inc., the company behind character.ai, is based in Menlo Park, California and was founded by Noam Shazeer and Daniel De Freitas.

AI characters can be fun to use for personal and group entertainment. They can also be educational such as using a chatbot to learn a language or practicing interviewing with a chat AI tool. Chat.ai also has chatbots that help you find a book, plan a trip or play game.

There are many types of chatbots available on the site. Users can also create a chatbot using different parameters.

Some of the game character chatbots you may be familiar with include Master Chief and Minecraft Steve. Some famous characters include Hermione from Harry Potter, Elon Musk, Napoleon Bonaparte and Michael Jackson. You can also talk to a folding chair.

Character.ai announced last year that it uses Google Cloud to train its models.

As part of the partnership, Character.AI will use Google Cloud's Tensor Processor Units (TPUs) to train and infer LLMs faster and more efficiently. Google Cloud TPUs are purpose-built to accelerate AI training and inference, speeding up the most computationally-intensive workloads with more than 100 petaflops of performance in a single pod. By leveraging Google Cloud TPUs, Character.AI can take advantage of the same reliable, secure, and highly scalable infrastructure that powers Google Search, YouTube, and other Google services.
