Facebook Says It Has One Billion Active Users

Facebook has announced that it has reached the one billion active user milestone. This is not just users, but active users. It is an impressive and important milestone for the social networking giant. The announcement was made in a post by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

"This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month.
If you're reading this: thank you for giving me and my little team the honor of serving you.
Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life.
I am committed to working every day to make Facebook better for you, and hopefully together one day we will be able to connect the rest of the world too."

Facebook also says there have been over 1.13 trillion likes since February 2009, 140.3 billion friend connections and 219 billion photos have been uploaded. It is hard to believe that many people are using it. The photo sharing figures are particularly impressive. That is a staggering amount of photographs.
