Google Unveils New Logo and Four Color G Icon

Posted on September 1, 2015

Google has unveiled a new logo as well as a new four color G icon. The search giant also released a video highlighting its logo changes since the company was founded 17 years ago.

The new logo was designed to look crisp even as small screen, such as small mobile devices and smart watch screens. Facebook also recently made a logo tweak so it would look crisper on smaller screens. Google says in the announcement, "Today we're introducing a new logo and identity family that reflects this reality and shows you when the Google magic is working for you, even on the tiniest screens."

Other elements, like the Google mic, are also getting colorful. Here is what the new four-color G icon looks like:

Google says, "This isn't the first time we've changed our look and it probably won't be the last, but we think today's update is a great reflection of all the ways Google works for you across Search, Maps, Gmail, Chrome and many others. We think we've taken the best of Google (simple, uncluttered, colorful, friendly), and recast it not just for the Google of today, but for the Google of the future."
