Posted on December 10, 2014
Android Wear is the smart watch operating system from Google. It currently powers six watches, including ASUS ZenWatch, the LG G Watch, the LG G Watch R, the Moto 360, the Samsung Gear Live, and the Sony SmartWatch 3. The digital smart watch technology allows for the creation of any type of face.
Google revealed some of the first new faces that will be available here on the official Google blog. The watch faces can be downloaded from Google Play. Some of the faces include Minions, Google Santa, Pac-Man, Rebecca Minkoff and Plans vs. Zombies. You can find the watch faces here. These are likely the first of what will be an enormous variety of faces to choose from as more and more developers get on board.
Google says it has also updated the Android Wear app to make it easier for people to find and download watch faces. The app was also updated to make it easier for wearers to change the face on their watch.
The face are created through Google's Watch Face API. The API enables developers to create customized watch faces for Android Wear. It is not clear how popular smart watches are going to be, but there will clearly be a design available to fit everyone's needs. Take a look:
